Brand new Hermès Birkin 25 Shadow in Nata Swift leather. What happens when you take every piece of hardware off a Birkin? Jean Paul Gaultier answered that question in 2009, during his time as creative director at Hermès. The Shadow Birkin keeps the iconic silhouette but replaces the flap, sangles, turn-lock and hanging clochette with a trompe-l'œil relief embossed directly into the leather. The result is the shadow of a Birkin: every detail is there, but only as relief. Hermès reissued the Shadow in the 25 cm size in 2021 in limited numbers, and it has since become one of the most coveted Birkin designs among collectors. Nata is a soft, warm cream, and Swift is a smooth calfskin with a fine grain and a semi-matte finish that softens with use. The open top has snaps at the sides, and the bag sits on protective feet.
